Dennis Walker hails from LA. The original one, that is: Louisiana. A native of Lake Charles, he earned his BFA in graphic design at Louisiana Tech, then became the first art director hired by Shreveport-based Carter Advertising in 1980. Dennis still wonders why the agency hired a kid straight out of school as its first and only AD, but he's not complaining. While at Carter, he established a successful career; met his wife, Marsha, who worked at the agency; and became the father of two sons, Matthew and Christopher.

In 1990, Dallas's The Richards Group lured Dennis away from the native soil. During his nearly 20 years at the agency, he has worked on a variety of accounts including Neiman Marcus, Whataburger, TGI Friday's, Trane, Pergo Flooring, American Standard and Freightliner. Today, as a creative group head, he leads the agency's efforts for clients such as Chick-fil-A, Fruit of the Loom, Sub-Zero and Wolf. Over the years his work has been recognized by virtually every major advertising show, including the New York Art Directors Club Show, Communication Arts, the OBIE Awards, and Graphis.

Dennis, who studied art in Italy while a college student, still dabbles in photography and, occasionally, painting. Now empty-nesters—their sons are pursuing creative careers of their own as musicians—Dennis and Marsha find time to make frequent trips back to LA for a dose of proper gumbo.
